Montfort Matric. Hr. Sec. School, Tindivanam

Compelled by the test of time when St. Joseph’s ITI and the Boys’ Home were experiencing paucity of fund to support themselves, the idea of starting a matriculation school dawned.

Bro. Joseph Tottuchalil seized the opportunity and converted the old pre – novitiate building at Shantivanam into classrooms. Thus the school was started on June 15, 1994. At the start there were 438 students and 13 staff on roll. Bro. Raphael Joseph was the founder principal with Bro. Joseph T as its correspondent. The classes were from LKG to Std. VI. Under the leadership of various principals the school began to grow by leaps and bounds. Being a growing school the parents and the public gradually came to know that Montfort School has a difference. The thrust on all round development and the good academic results produced every year left the ambitious parents satisfied. The high school was upgraded into a higher secondary in 1999.

To accommodate the growing strength of the students a new building was constructed in 2000 by Bro. Ganapragasam to provide lab facilities. Again another block was built to create additional classrooms by Bro. Joseph T. it was so unfortunate that the premature death prevented him from seeing the completion of the structure. It was nice on the part of the brothers to have named it Bro. T. Joseph Block. The school is indebted greatly to its pioneers and to the succeeding principals Bros. V.C. Mani, Jose kannampuzha, Charles Gaspar, and Thomas Selvam for their selfless service of devotion. From 2000-2005, Bro. Selvin Antony was the Principal. During this period, the school became a government exam centre for Stds X and XII. Further it became also a Valuation Centre.
