Montfort Academy Matriculation School, Mylapore

A feeder school of Santhome Hr. Sec. School called Montfort Preparatory School was started in 1965 by Bro. Anselm. Archbishop Louis Mathias inaugurated it on June 26, 1965. In June 2005, by the efforts taken by Bro. Jesuraj, it was recognized as a Matriculation School by the Govt. of Tamilnadu and it was named Montfort Academy Matriculation School. Bro. Jesuraj was its Correspondent. It was officially inaugurated on Mar 11, 2006, when Montfort Brothers celebrated the Golden Jubilee of their presence in Santhome School. To mark this event Montfort Centenary Block was blessed by Msgr. Lawrence Pius, Auxiliary Bishop of Madras – Mylapore and inaugurated by Bro. Dhanaraj, Provincial Superior.

In June 2006, Bro. Packiaraj was appointed Correspondent and Sr. Daisy DSH Headmistress. Fully equipped labs and a good library were installed. A new block “Wisdom Block” was constructed in 2007 and it was blessed by Msgr. Lawrence Pius, Auxiliary Bishop of Madras – Mylapore and inaugurated by Bro. Jose Thottiyil, Vicar General. The 1^st batch of Std X students secured 100% success in April 2009 govt. exam. In June 2009, Bro. Albert Selvaraj became the correspondent and Sr. Marietta DSH Headmistress. Modern play equipments were added and cultural activities based on “Global Warning” were introduced. The students are excelling in cricket, swimming, skating, chess, basket ball, table tennis, etc.
