Mary Mount Juniorate, Kolathur

It was a long cherished dream to have a separate Juniorate with an independent Community for our school going candidates.

Ever since the division of the Southern Province, the Juniorate of Yercaud Province was attached mostly to Nirmala High School, Kolathur. The Juniors attended classes in Nirmala Hr.Sec. School and stayed inside the School compound with a Brother and a lay staff to look after them. From 2010, they followed the English medium classes in Montfort Matric Hr.Sec.School, Kolathur. In 2012, the Provincial Administration started the work of constructing a separate Juniorate in a plot of land measuring nearly 13 acres situated 3 kms from the School. The work was completed in April 2015. It has all the required facilities of a good boarding School. In spite of the usual criticism, the new Juniors will surely bear much fruit in our efforts to get more vocations for our Province whose average age is 54 years.

The Juniorate Community moved into the new building on 11th May followed by the Juniors on 15th May 2015. Bro. MP Antony along with his assistants have taken charge of the new house and are accompanying the Juniors well. At present, there are 61 Juniors. They walk to the School for the morning mass, regular classes and other programmes. For lunch they go back making a to and fro trip in the Montfort Matric School bus.

The new Juniorate is christened as Mary Mount Juniorate and is on the Mysore road towards Palar. Shortly it will be officially blessed by the Rt.Rev.Dr.Singaroyan, Bishop of Salem. You are welcome to visit Mary Mount Juniorate and bless our Juniors and Brothers of the Community.
